Spring Is Here—Are Your Legs Ready?

Christina Winder • April 3, 2026

Spring has officially arrived, bringing warmer days, lighter layers, and more time outdoors. If visible veins make you hesitant about shorts, dresses, or sandals, you’re far from alone. Nearly 55% of Americans experience some form of vein disease, including spider veins, bulging varicose veins, and uncomfortable leg symptoms.

Those blue, purple, or raised veins aren’t just a cosmetic concern. They can cause daily discomfort and, in some cases, signal an underlying vein condition. The good news? Because vein issues are often medical—not cosmetic—most insurance plans cover evaluation and treatment.

Varicose Veins: What You Should Know This Spring

Varicose veins are common, treatable, and often progressive if left unaddressed. Understanding the cause, symptoms, and available treatments now can help you feel more comfortable—and confident—as you head into the warmer months.

What Are Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins develop when the valves inside your veins weaken or fail. Instead of blood flowing efficiently back to the heart, it pools in the vein, causing it to stretch, twist, and become visible beneath the skin—most often in the legs.

What Causes Varicose Veins?

  • Several factors can increase your risk, including:
  • Family history — Genetics play a significant role
  • Age — Veins naturally lose elasticity over time (though younger adults can be affected)
  • Hormonal changes — Pregnancy, menopause, and hormonal fluctuations make women more susceptible
  • Excess weight — Added pressure on leg veins impacts circulation
  • Prolonged sitting or standing — Common in many modern jobs and lifestyles

Signs & Symptoms to Watch For

  • Varicose veins don’t always cause pain at first—but symptoms often worsen over time. Common warning signs include:
  • Heavy, tired, or aching legs
  • Swollen ankles or lower legs
  • Visible blue or purple bulging veins
  • Burning, itching, or throbbing sensations
  • Skin discoloration or texture changes

If these symptoms sound familiar, your veins may be trying to tell you something.

Why Spring Is the Perfect Time for Treatment

Starting treatment in the spring gives you a head start before summer. Many vein treatments require compression stockings and limited sun exposure afterward—making the cooler spring months ideal for beginning care. By starting now, you can experience relief from symptoms and feel more confident as summer approaches.

It’s also important to remember that untreated vein disease can lead to more serious problems, including:

  • Chronic leg pain and fatigue
  • Slow-healing venous ulcers
  • Skin infections and inflammation
  • Increased risk of blood clots (DVT)
  • Sudden bleeding from surface veins

Addressing vein issues early—before symptoms worsen—can help prevent complications and improve daily comfort.

Modern, Minimally Invasive Treatment Options

Today’s vein treatments are quick, effective, and require little to no downtime.

  • Depending on your condition, options may include:
  • Lifestyle support – Movement, weight management, and circulation-friendly habits
Compression therapy – Medical-grade stockings to reduce swelling and improve blood flow
  • Advanced in-office procedures, such as:
  • Radiofrequency Ablation & VenaSeal™ to close damaged veins
  • Varithena® & Sclerotherapy injections for smaller or surface veins

Most patients return to normal activities quickly—and see noticeable improvement.

Are you tired of looking in the mirror and seeing the signs of aging, sun damage, or just the wear and tear of everyday life? Get ready to turn up the heat with Tixel, the skin resurfacing treatment that’s hotter than your morning coffee and twice as refreshing. This innovative treatment uses cutting-edge technology to rejuvenate your skin and leave you looking and feeling refreshed. So, what exactly is skin resurfacing? Essentially, it’s a process that removes the outer layers of your skin to reveal the healthier, more vibrant skin underneath. (Think of it like peeling a carrot.) This can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, sun damage, and even acne scars. This is the best part – Tixel is non-invasive and has minimal downtime. Tixel uses heat to create tiny microchannels in the skin, which stimulate the body’s natural healing process and encourage the growth of new, healthy skin cells. Plus, because Tixel uses heat rather than lasers or chemicals, it’s a safer and more comfortable option. This method is less invasive and leads to less tissue damage, resulting in minimal downtime. Of course, it’s important to remember that Tixel is only part of the equation when it comes to healthy, glowing skin. To truly maintain those amazing results, you need to take good care of your skin at home. This includes using high-quality skincare products, avoiding excessive sun exposure, and staying hydrated. Think of Tixel as the hero of your skincare routine, and your at-home regimen as the trusty sidekick along with your Aesthetic Provider’s tips and tricks. Together, they’ll help you achieve your skincare goals.

Cosmetic fillers are a great way to help you turn back time, when used correctly. Do you notice the person staring at you in the mirror has a few more lines than before? Are you seeing an image of your parents or grandparents looking back at you? Time and the aging process is something we can’t stop, but we can help slow it with cosmetic fillers. Cosmetic fillers are a great way to enhance areas on the face or simply put back volume that time took away. They can volumize the cheeks, sharpen the chin and jawlines, volumize the lips, and soften unwanted wrinkles. Done in the right hands, cosmetic fillers will help bring back a younger, more youthful version of you! Injecting filler is an art that requires precision, ongoing training, and an eye for detail. For the best results, it is important that you choose an injector who is highly educated and stays current with the latest techniques. It is important to remember that fillers only replace volume; they don’t stop the movement of the face, which le

The good news is bioidentical hormone replacement can relieve these symptoms and even provide protection against chronic health conditions. Not to be confused with synthetic hormones that come with the risk of blood clots and cancers, bioidentical hormones are naturally made from plant-based materials and have little to no increased risk of cardiovascular disease or cancer, but instead are shown by research studies to protect against these conditions and can be used long term without an increase in risk.

It’s Sunsational month again at Genesis! We are looking forward to and getting geared up for our 16th annual Sunsational Celebration Open House on May 18th. It’s hard to believe how many of these we have put on as a company. Every year we are so grateful to all who celebrate with us. This year also marks, for me, 16 years of being a client of Genesis. As some of you know, Dr. Prasad and Barb are my parents, so I was exposed to great skincare products and sun protection from a young age. As I have grown up, and when I began my career at Genesis eight years ago, I tried even more of the services and products we offer. I can’t say enough how much they have changed my life. Everything I have tried has been fabulous, from vein care and Biote Hormone Replacement to routine facials and Botox. At 31, I feel younger than I used to and feel more confident in my skin than ever before. I have grown up around a lot of my Genesis team, and we have added some newer faces as the years have passed. They are amazing! I feel privileged to work with such a solid and passionate group of people. I think this place is pretty magical and you can feel it when you come through our doors. So, I invite you to hang out with us, meet the team, and experience all the fabulousness Genesis offers this month. Find something that will help you feel better or be more confident. You deserve it!
