Vaginal Rejuvination

Simply put, it is restoring the vaginal tissues to a more youthful, healthier state. After childbirth or treatment for breast cancer, the vaginal tissues can become unhealthy. You may experience vaginal dryness or shrinkage. The tissues may become loose leading to urinary leakage during exercise and coughing or decreased sensation during intercourse. With our Femilift laser and ThermiVa RF device, we can help you reverse the effects of time and treatment so that you can enjoy a fuller and more complete life.

Almost anyone is a candidate for vaginal rejuvenation, but the final determination will be made at your consultation. You will need to be evaluated by our physician to make sure that you are a good candidate for one of our devices. You may need treatment by only one of the devices, but some women will benefit from utilizing both devices. 

Women who have had cancer treatments, early or surgical menopause, or multiple children are ideal candidates for vaginal rejuvenation. In addition to these devices, you may benefit form hormone optimization and/or having the O-shot.  We will discuss the benefits of these state-of-the-art therapies with you if we feel they would be of benefit to you.

The FemiLift is a CO2 laser that works by vaporizing the vaginal mucosa in a very precise and controlled fashion.  The slight injury this creates will stimulate new collagen growth.  The laser will also cause an increase in lubrication and sensation while also tightening the vaginal vault!  The procedure is virtually painless and performed in the office by our highly trained staff.

The FemiLift RF device uses a little different energy to create tightening and new collagen growth.  In the office with no anesthesia, the probe is inserted into the vagina.  It will slowly heat your vaginal tissues in a painless way so that the heat causes a slight, controlled injury which then stimulates new collagen growth.  It will also cause an increase in lubrication, sensation, and vaginal vault tightening.

No special preparation is necessary for either of the vaginal rejuvenation treatments. You should not be pregnant or breastfeeding. Also, if you have recently delivered a child, it is best to wait at least 3 months before proceeding with any vaginal rejuvenation procedure. You should also not be menstruating while having these procedures.

Once you arrive, we will take pictures of the area to be treated and have you sign your consent. If you have any questions, it is important to have them answered at this time. It is very important to have pictures in order to see the changes as they occur. The staff will then clean the area and position you on the bed. The device will be gently inserted and the treatment performed. There should be no significant pain during the procedure. Once completed, you will get dressed and be ready to go.

The short answer is nothing special. There are some differences in the instructions based on which procedure you performed. If you had ThermiVa, you have no restrictions and may have sexual intercourse that night. You should not have any spotting or significant discharge. If you had the FemiLift, then you may spot or have some slight bloody discharge for a few days. You may want to wear a feminine napkin until it resolves.  Also, you should not insert anything into the vagina or have sex for approximately 5 days. The FemiLift can cause a little more irritation, but once you are discomfort free-and have no discharge you can resume all your activities after 5 days. Some women may need a few extra days, however.

Immediately following your treatment, your body will start the regrowth of new, more youthful tissues and collagen. We recommend a minimum of three initial treatments spaced one month apart in order to achieve the best results. You must remember that you are still aging, so it is important to have one treatment every 6 months in order to maximize the results. They will generally last 1-3 years and will be dependent on other health factors that are unique to you. We will discuss any other issues we feel may help your overall health and maximize your results from vaginal rejuvenation.
