O-Shot

The O-shot restores the vaginal tissues to a more youthful, healthier state.  After childbirth or treatment for breast cancer, the vaginal tissues can become unhealthy.  You may experience vaginal dryness or shrinkage.  The tissues may become loose leading to urinary leakage during exercise and coughing or decreased sensation during intercourse.  The O-shot uses your own body's healing capabilities to repair and restore the vaginal tissues to a more youthful state.  This leads to a decrease in urinary incontinence as well as an improvement in sexual function.

Almost anyone is a candidate for the O-Shot, but the final determination will be made at your consultation. You will need to be evaluated by our physician to make sure that you are a good candidate for the O-Shot. Women who have had cancer treatments, early or surgical menopause, or multiple children are ideal candidates for the O-shot, but anyone who wants to improve their sex life will benefit also. In addition, you may benefit from hormone optimization in addition to having the O-shot. We will discuss the benefits of these state-of-the-art therapies with you if we feel they would be of benefit to you.

The O-Shot works by stimulating an increase in blood flow to the vaginal area. The PRP also has growth factors that will stimulate the growth of new, more elastic tissues in the vagina. PRP also may attract stem cells to migrate to the area causing further rejuvenation of the vagina. The result may be an increase in sensation, increased arousal, stronger orgasms, decreased urinary incontinence, a decrease in pain during intercourse, increased lubrication, and a tightening of the vaginal vault.

No special preparation is necessary for the O-Shot.  You should not be pregnant or menstruating while having these procedures. If you have any other concerns or questions, please call us so we can address them before you arrive for your treatment.  

Once you arrive, we may take pictures of the area to be treated and have you sign your consent. If you have any questions, it is important to have them answered at this time. The staff will draw your blood to prepare the PRP. A topical anesthetic cream will be applied to your vagina and clitoris.  Once the PRP is ready, the doctor and staff will perform the injections. They may also use ice to numb the injection areas to further reduce any discomfort. There should be no significant pain during the procedure. Once completed, you may get dressed and resume all activities.

The short answer is nothing special. You will have no activity restrictions and may resume sexual intercourse immediately.

Immediately following your treatment, your body will start the regrowth of new, more youthful tissues and collagen. You may experience and immediate increase in sexual desire and increase in sensitivity, but some women may take a little longer. Full results are usually present in 3 months. The results from the O-shot can last up to a year, but individual results will vary. Most women will need to repeat the O-Shot every 12-18 months, but you can have the O-Shot as frequently as you want.

The O-Shot is considered a cosmetic procedure and therefore will not be covered by most insurance companies. We do offer financing options to cover your costs. Just ask our staff and they will be glad to assist you!
