Embrace Your Beauty
This month my inspiration is coming hot off a weeklong trip to the lovely Lake of the Ozarks. Genesis has not only impacted my professional life, but taking advantage of our services has also had a huge impact on my personal life. After spending the week in my swimsuit, I have to give a shout out to a few of the services that made this a bit less painful than it could have been.
First, the vein care I have received over the past 15 years has helped keep those pesky varicose veins from popping up all over. Unlike my mom and grandma, I am not embarrassed to show my legs due to a highway of veins. Yes, there are a few, but I know all too well what they would look like if I did not keep up with my treatments. Plus, my legs feel good to boot!
Second, I got rid of my menopause belly thanks to CoolSculpting. My abdomen was never the area of choice for fat to deposit when I gained weight, but menopause changed that. Two CoolSculpting treatments later my abdomen was back to its pre-menopause state and stays that way if I maintain my weight.
Finally, bioidentical hormone replacement has helped me maintain muscle mass, which helps me keep my weight in check. Of course, all of this only helps if I continue to do my part – maintaining a healthy diet and getting plenty of exercise.
So, thank you Genesis for adding a boost of confidence to my vacation and giving me a hand in my journey to stay healthy and active as I age. Call us if you would like to find out how Genesis can partner on your aging journey. After all, there is no anti-aging, just aging as best as we can. The benefits, like being grandma to Charlotte, far outweigh the downside!
Don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today. If you had parents like mine this is something you have heard often. Unfortunately, putting off health care is something our staff hears about often. Every year we hear similar stories from our patients at this time of year. They tell us they are going to wait to do their vein care until they have met their deductible. There are many reasons they may choose to make this decision, but I would like to address one of the reasons:
“This is an elective procedure that I can wait to do until I don’t have to pay out of pocket.”
I would like to challenge this line of thought. I had my vein care done over 10 years ago. Why? Call me the guinea pig! Whenever Dr. Prasad is trialing new procedures, I am usually the first name that gets thrown in the hat. I can honestly say I would have never chosen to seek vein care at that time of my life otherwise. I did have visible veins, and parents and grandparents who suffered horribly from vein disease. My legs did ache at the end of the day, I could barely tolerate long car rides, and plane travel was miserable. But these changes happened slowly over time and I just learned to live with them. Thank goodness I was put in the position to do it for someone else because I would have never taken the time to do it for myself. Who knows when I would have started taking care of my legs.
So what did I gain?
- Legs that felt great
- A new vigor in my running
- And yes, they did look better
I also prevented many of my symptoms from getting worse. I am convinced I would not have been able to maintain the level of exercise I have or continue to enjoy the types of traveling I do. I still have vein disease and always will, but with 1 to 2 treatments a year I can keep ahead of it and enjoy my active life.
So what’s your story going to be?
You have a choice! Choose to treat your vein disease. You’re worth it! Life is too short to sit on the sidelines. Join me in doing the best we can to stay active, stay fit and enjoy life. A great resolution to have for 2019!
Happy New Year!
October is anniversary month for JCMG Laser and Vein Center. It is hard to believe we have been open for 8 years. Time has flown! I am so grateful to all of our clients for trusting us with their vein and esthetic care needs. It is because of that trust that we are able to continue to do what we love. This has been a wonderful working experience for me and I have enjoyed meeting our clients and working with our dedicated staff.
I thought I would reflect on how being exposed to what we do has changed me personally. I can honestly say my health and well-being would be different if I had not started working here. It all started just like the LVC started, with vein treatments. I have horrible vein disease. It runs in both sides of my family, and having four kids, it was almost a guarantee I would develop this disease. If I did not work here, however, I would have just accepted this as a part of aging and probably waited to seek treatment or not even realized I could be treated.
Lucky for me it didn't happen that way! I did get evaluated, received treatment, and continue to return to keep ahead of this chronic problem. So instead of legs that ache so badly I can hardly stand a two hour car ride without stopping, I am able to travel long distances, even on airlines, with minimal discomfort. Instead of giving up running because of heaviness and pain in my legs, I am able to keep up a weekly run schedule. Instead of coming home with aching, swelling legs after long days of standing, I am able to continue to do the things I need to do without paying for it afterwards. Plus, I have the added bonus of not being thoroughly embarrassed to wear a skirt or shorts. So I am adding to my anniversary celebration list gratitude for better leg health. I am so glad I didn't suffer needlessly with a disease that has such a simple treatment option that was covered by my insurance!
I am proud to work for a company that has done this life-changing service for so many others. So again, thank you for your trust in us. For you procrastinators out there, now is the time to take the jump and start taking care of yourself. Next year you can be celebrating, too. Stay tuned for my next blurb on how our esthetic services have also brought change to my life.
