Silhouette InstaLift

Silhouette InstaLift is a threadlifting technique that uses absorbable micro-cones to instantly lift your sagging cheeks and the lines around your mouth. The threads and cones will slowly dissolve over the course of approximately one year. The Silhouette material has the added property of bio-stimulation. This means that you will grow new collagen as the threads dissolve, which makes the results last even longer.

Silhouette InstaLift can be performed on almost anyone. Most people will have sagging in their midface as they age, therefore Silhouette InstaLift will help them. If you have had previous facial surgery of any kind or any traumatic injuries to the face, it is very important that we know exactly what was done. The most important consideration is whether threadlifting is the correct procedure for the issue you are seeing. The great thing is that we have many other options for correction of the aging face, so we can help with almost any issue.

Silhouette InstaLift is very simple conceptually. We place the threads under the skin and lift the sagging skin back into its original location. The cones then lock the tissue in place so that it doesn’t migrate back down. Over time, the new collagen growth locks the tissues in place to maintain great long-term results.

Preparing for a Silhouette InstaLift is very easy. We will need to understand what your goals for the treatment are as well as your full medical history. Certain medical conditions and medicines may not allow you to have the procedure. You may drive yourself to your appointment. Please be well rested and drink lots of water prior to your visit. You do not need to do any special skin cleansing before coming and you may wear makeup to your visit.

Once you have discussed the areas to be treated with our physician, we will clean the areas to be addressed. The doctor will then inject a local anesthetic into the insertion areas. These injections may sting a little at first, but then they will rapidly go numb. Once numb, the doctor will begin the insertion of the Silhouette threads. The needles will pass under your skin with little to no pain and out of the pre-marked exit sites. There are usually 3-4 threads on each side of your face. Once all the threads have been placed, the doctor will manually push your skin up and you will feel the cones holding the tissue for a moment. There will be some final manipulation of your facial skin and then once the doctor is satisfied with the results, he will cut the threads so that they are not visible on the skin surface. The nurse will then clean your face and apply makeup if you would like. You are then finished!

After your Silhouette InstaLift insertion, you will need to cool the area with ice for a few hours. This will keep the bruising and swelling to a minimum. You should avoid exposing the treated area to sunlight and use sunscreen very liberally. Cold wind and hot water should also be avoided as they will make the inflammation and redness worse. These should resolve over the first week or sooner. If you have a lot of bruising, we can help you with a camouflage makeup. The minor bumps or irregularities in the surface will slowly smooth out over the first week or two. Some people will have a bunching of their cheek tissue. This is okay and will smooth out quickly. It will also lead to a better volumization of the cheek area. You should wash your face gently and apply products and makeup as you normally would. Excessive face and neck movements and sports should be avoided for two weeks. Face down massages and any further facial treatments should also be avoided for 4 weeks.

Silhouette InstaLift will last up to two years under optimal conditions. The threads will dissolve over the first year and the new collagen growth will maintain your results for up to another year. Daily sunscreen use will protect your skin and give you the best chance to maintain the results.
