Botox
Wrinkles result from a combination of many factors. Genetics, sun exposure and smoking can all contribute to the appearance of wrinkles, but some wrinkling is simply due to the repetitive nature of your facial movements. When you frown or concentrate, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. And when you squint, the muscles around your eyes contract and cause crow's feet.
Botox Cosmetic is the first and only FDA-approved prescription product that temporarily improves the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and moderate to severe crow’s feet in adults. Botox works beneath the skin's surface and targets the underlying muscle activity that causes these frown lines and crow's feet to form over time. Our doctors can inject Botox into these muscles, temporarily reducing their activity and resulting in the disappearance of these lines.
Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe wrinkles on the face and neck. Please go to

If you are between the ages of 18 and 65 and are concerned about the expression wrinkles you have between your brows, on your forehead and around your eyes, Botox is very likely a treatment that will interest you. A full medical history will be taken to ensure this is a safe treatment for you. The treatment is contraindicated during pregnancy and nursing, or if you have an infection in the injection area. If you have a neurological disorder, you will have an increased risk for side effects, so a careful examination of your condition should be done by your physician before you visit us. Schedule a consultation with our aesthetic staff to make sure this treatment is right for you. This give you the opportunity to have your questions answered and compare Botox to our other wrinkle reducing treatments.
Botox is administered via tiny injections directly into the muscles that are responsible for the lines you are looking to eliminate. This blocks the release of the chemical causing these muscles to contract, thus allowing the muscles to relax. The result is smoother looking skin.
Getting Botox is very convenient. No special preparations are necessary unless you are on medicines that thin your blood. If you are, we will need to assess whether it is safe to stop them before you get your Botox injections. This will decrease the chance of bruising. You should also be well hydrated and as stress free as possible when you arrive. If you want you can remove your makeup before coming in. Otherwise, we will need to do that in the area of the injections.
Once you have discussed the areas to be treated with our physician, we will clean the area to be treated. Photos will be taken prior to treatment. The doctor will then inject the Botox into the appropriate areas with very small needles. The nurse will hold pressure on the injection sites to reduce the chance of bruising. Once the treatment is over, you may reapply your makeup. We will be happy to help you if you need assistance with this.
You may have some slight redness and small bumps at the injection site. This will resolve within a few hours. You will want to remain upright for at least four hours after your treatment. We ask that you not rub the injection site after your treatment. We recommend that you not exercise, use a sauna or hot tub, or be outside if you will sweat excessively. There is some concern that you could sweat out Botox that has been recently injected. The next day you will have no risk of this potential loss. Also, we recommend that you work the muscles in the injection area over the first few hours (i.e. frown, squint or raise eyebrows). You should notice results within one week of your treatment.
It is important to remember that Botox is not a permanent solution to wrinkles. The effects of the treatment will gradually wear off over 3 months. In order to achieve consistent results over time, we recommend that you incorporate your Botox treatments into your routine every 3 months. This will give you beautiful, consistent wrinkle reduction without anyone knowing, unless of course you want to tell them!
Botox is not covered by insurance when used for cosmetic purposes. There are medical conditions that use Botox in its therapeutic form, but we do not treat those disorders at our facility.
