Botox & Fillers

We provide a wide variety of effective and convenient injectables for our patients. These popular minimally invasive non-surgical treatments create high-quality results and require minimal to no downtime.

Our Botox services are remarkable treatments that erase frown lines, worry lines, and crow’s feet. They also maximize and extend the results achieved through laser skin treatments. Treatments are nearly painless, and the effects last 3-4 months.

Injectable wrinkle fillers are a quick fix for deeper wrinkles, such as smile lines and deeper, upper lip lines. They can also be used to hide lower eyelid bags, plump lips, and even fill in sunken cheeks and redefine jaw lines. Treatments take only minutes, and, depending on the filler and area of the face, results can last up to 18 months.

Botox Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Botox?

Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe wrinkles on the face and neck. Please go to botoxcosmetic.com for full product information including a medication guide.

  • Who is a candidate for Botox?

If you are over 18 and are concerned about the expression wrinkles you have between your brows, on your forehead and around your eyes, Botox is very likely a treatment that will interest you. A full medical history will be taken to ensure this is a safe treatment for you. The treatment is contraindicated during pregnancy and nursing, or if you have an infection in the injection area. If you have a neurological disorder, you will have an increased risk for side effects, so a careful examination of your condition should be done by your physician before you visit us. Schedule a consultation with our physician to make sure this treatment is right for you. This gives you the opportunity to have your questions answered and compare Botox to our other wrinkle reducing treatments.

  • How does Botox work?

Botox is administered via tiny injections directly into the muscles that are responsible for the lines you are looking to eliminate. This blocks the release of the chemical causing these muscles to contract, thus allowing the muscles to relax. The result is smoother looking skin.

  • How do I prepare for Botox?

Getting Botox is very convenient. No special preparations are necessary unless you are on medicines that thin your blood. If you are, we will need to assess whether it is safe to stop them before you get your Botox injections. This will decrease the chance of bruising. You should also be well hydrated and as stress free as possible when you arrive. If you want you can remove your makeup before coming in. Otherwise, we will need to do that prior to your injections.

  • What can I expect during a Botox treatment?

Getting Botox is very convenient. No special preparations are necessary unless you are on medicines that thin your blood. If you are, we will need to assess whether it is safe to stop them before you get your Botox injections. This will decrease the chance of bruising. You should also be well hydrated and as stress free as possible when you arrive. If you want you can remove your makeup before coming in. Otherwise, we will need to do that in the area of the injections.

  • What will I need to do after Botox?

Once the treatment session is complete, you will be able to return to your daily schedule. A degree of bruising, redness, and swelling will be present in the injected regions, but these will fade quickly. To avoid prolonging these issues, do not drink alcohol or stay in the sun for long periods for around 24 hours after the treatment. Ice packs also help to resolve the swelling. You will want to remain upright for at least four hours after your treatment.

We ask that you not rub the injection site after your treatment. We recommend that you not exercise, use a sauna or hot tub, or be outside if you will sweat excessively. There is some concern that you could sweat out Botox that has been recently injected. The next day you will have no risk of this potential loss. Also, we recommend that you work the muscles in the injection area over the first few hours (i.e. frown, squint or raise eyebrows). You should notice results within one week of your treatment

  • How long will the results from Botox last?

It is important to remember that Botox is not a permanent solution to wrinkles. The effects of the treatment will gradually wear off over 3 months. In order to achieve consistent results over time, we recommend that you incorporate your Botox treatments into your routine every 3 months. This will give you beautiful, consistent wrinkle reduction without anyone knowing, unless of course you want to tell them!

  • Will my insurance cover Botox?

Botox is not covered by insurance when used for cosmetic purposes. There are medical conditions that use Botox in its therapeutic form, but we do not treat those disorders at our facility.

You may schedule a consultation to learn more about how Botox can help you look more rested and youthful.

Once you have discussed the areas to be treated with our physician, we will clean the area to be treated. The doctor will then inject the proper filler into the appropriate areas with very small needles. We may hold pressure on the injection sites to reduce the chance of bruising. You will notice immediate correction in the areas of volume loss. Over the next few minutes, the area will swell and it may look larger than you want. This will resolve in a week or less. You may also notice some mild differences in the skin texture due to the needle insertion sites, as well as some bruising at the injection site. These, too, will rapidly disappear. Juvederm fillers will also draw water into the treated area causing a smoother and overall better appearance with time. Once the treatment is over, you may gently reapply your makeup. We will be happy to help you if you need assistance with your makeup.

After your injections, you will need to cool the area with ice for a few hours. This will keep the bruising and swelling to a minimum. You should avoid exposing the treated area to sunlight and use sunscreen very liberally. Cold wind and hot water should also be avoided as they will make the inflammation and redness worse. These should resolve in a week or less. If you have a lot of bruising, we can help you with a camouflage makeup.
